Our beginnings…
In 1960, Notre Dame conducted a study of the aging population in the Fort Wayne – South Bend area. The study found that the elderly had critical housing needs that were not being met. Saint Anne Home was envisioned as a partial solution to this problem. This vision became a reality due to the dedication of Geneva Davidson and her husband. Upon her death, Geneva left the majority of her estate to the Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend with instructions that the money be used to build a home for the aging. On January 3, 1966 groundbreaking ceremonies were held on what is now known in the community as the premier Catholic nursing facility, Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community.
“Geneva’s Fund” is a designated account for monetary gifts that is used to benefit the current needs of the residents at Saint Anne Home. Your gift may be designated to benefit something specific; such as facility grounds and up-keep, wellness programs, or our adult day program, to name a few. At times we also have apartment residents who have depleted their assets and are in need of financial assistance.
Due to the initial generosity of Geneva, and the generosity of numerous individuals since, Saint Anne’s has been able to add additional services to continue to meet the ever-changing needs of the seniors in the northeast Indiana community.
If you would like to make a donation to Geneva’s Fund, please contact Sharon Kendrick at (260) 484-5555. Your generosity will help ensure that we are able to continue to provide the highest quality care in a safe and loving environment, and that we are able to continue meeting the needs of the community as they change.
